Changing the Menu Bar Colors In Visual Intercept Web and Web Relay

One of the branding features that Visual Intercept Web and Web Relay offer is the ability to replace the Elsinore logo above the menu bar with your organization's logo - or any other image you choose. This feature helps you easily brand the site to your organization. Many of Elsinore's customers also integrate Visual Intercept Web and Web Relay into their intranets or portals.

Based on the image you choose or the color scheme of your web site, you might also want to change the color of the menu bars. For example, if the predominant color of your logo or web site is a particular shade of blue, you might want to change the color of the menu bars to that same shade to achieve a more consistent appearance.

This month's Tech Tip describes how you can easily change the menu bar colors in both the incident management and administration pages of Visual Intercept Web and Web Relay. You will simply be changing a hexadecimal value in a style sheet for the incident management and administration pages.

To change the color of the menu bar in the incident management pages for Visual Intercept Web or Web Relay:

• Navigate to the following directory: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\VIWebDev\StyleSheets\IE
• Open the iwmanager.css with Notepad
• Save a copy of the file with the name iwmanager.old to a safe location so you can revert back if you have unexpected results
• Select Edit | Replace from the Notepad menu
• Enter 008200 in the Find What field and the hexadecimal value of the color you want to change the menus to in the Replace With field
• Click the Replace All button
• Save the changes to the file
• Log onto the "Manage Incidents" pages to see your changes

To change the color of the menu bar in the administration pages for Visual Intercept Web or Web Relay:

• Navigate to the following directory: C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\VIWebDev\StyleSheets\IE
• Open the iwadmin.css with Notepad
• Save a copy of the file with the name iwadminr.old to a safe location so you can revert back if you have unexpected results
• Select Edit | Replace from the Notepad menu
• Enter 008200 in the Find What field and the hexadecimal value of the color you want to change the menus to in the Replace With field
• Click the Replace All button
• Save the changes to the file
• Log onto the "Administrate" pages to see your changes
