What is the Visual Intercept 4.0 Platform Beta?
Elsinore Technologies is creating Visual Intercept 4.0 using a new issue management platform named "IssueNet". Elsinore built IssueNet as a generalized web services platform for issue management solutions. The Visual Intercept 4.0 upgrade is the first product Elsinore will produce from the platform. In addition to Visual Intercept 4.0, Elsinore, its partners, and its customers will use the IssueNet platform to create and extend fully integrated issue management solutions. Because the IssueNet platform encompasses all core features to be included in the Visual Intercept 4.0 release, Elsinore would like to make the IssueNet platform available as a first beta release to customers interested in the Visual Intercept 4.0 upgrade.
Beta Program Requirements
To receive the beta and updates you must be willing to:
- Attend a short webinar to become familiar with the basic features of the new product.
- Install the product and make a demonstrable effort to use its features.
- Submit feature requests, change requests, and defect reports to Elsinore.
- Provide a reasonable response to surveys, e-mails, and phone calls related to the new product.
What Does the Platform Beta Include?
Because this is a platform beta, some features specific to software issue tracking will not be included. The common features not included in this beta are:
- Software development workflows and sample data
- Fields specific to software development processes, e.g., found version and release version
- Integration to source code control systems, e.g., VSS
- The Visual Studio Add-In
In addition, this beta will not include Visual Intercept Relay or an import utility for Visual Intercept 3.x data. These features will be available in subsequent beta releases.
How to Sign Up for and Receive the Beta
If you are interested in receiving the beta, please submit your request below. Once you have submitted your request you will be promptly contacted with information about webinar dates and download availability.
Beta System Requirements
At a minimum, the platform beta can be installed on any computer that supports the .NET framework and has approximately 100MB free disk space and 128 MB of RAM.
IssueNet clients can connect to the database server directly or through a web service. To allow clients to connect using a web service you will need to install the IssueNet platform on a computer running IIS (Internet Information Server) 5.0 or greater.
IssueNet currently supports SQL Server or MSDE as its backend DBMS. If you do not have a SQL Server instance available for your evaluation, the IssueNet installer provides the option to create an MSDE instance for the IssueNet database. MSDE is a desktop version of SQL Server that does not require a license.
IssueNet also features notification services. If you want to send and receive notifications through IssueNet, you will need to have access to a computer running Microsoft Messaging and Queuing (MSMQ) services. Any computer running Windows XP professional or greater can support MSMQ. You can add MSMQ to a computer by selecting the Add/Remove Windows Components option from the Windows Control Panel.
