With the release of Visual Studio 2005 Microsoft will also release a new version of Visual SourceSafe. In September Elsinore developers went to Redmond to test Visual Intercept with an early version of the new product.
Microsoft is improving its developer tools product suite, and as part of that effort they are making process improvement enhancements to Visual SourceSafe. As with any shift in the architectural design of a product Visual Intercept integrates to, our first concern is minimizing the effects of those changes on our clients and maintaining seamless integrations with our partner’s products.
Elsinore’s participation in the Microsoft Visual Studio Industry Partner Program provided a first hand look at Visual SourceSafe 2005. Elsinore’s trip to the Microsoft Campus allowed us to work hand-in-hand with their development staff to verify the integrity of their API. Mike Pietraszak, Group Program Manager, said "It was great to work with Elsinore at the Microsoft Compatibility Labs in September. We were able to identify and address key compatibility issues early. When Visual SourceSafe 2005 is released, I am confident that users of Visual Intercept will benefit from our joint effort and will smoothly transition to the latest technology."
According to Elsinore Project Manager Scott Baker "The Visual SourceSafe development team responded quickly to Elsinore’s concerns about the API which minimized the changes necessary to support integration to Visual Source Safe 2005. This type of effort is important to us because, in addition to building new features, one of our top priorities is to protect our customer’s investment in their development tools and ensure business continuity as their environment changes."
