Research Triangle Park, NC (April 29, 2004) -- Elsinore Technologies, elsitech.com, maker of the Visual Intercept platform, today announced the release of Visual Intercept 3.6. This latest release of Visual Intercept, the only Enterprise management system designed from the ground up to integrate with Microsoft® productivity tools, introduces several significant new features in addition to routine fixes and updates.
"Although 3.6 is a service release available free of charge to all customers with a support contract, it significantly extends and enhances several of Visual Intercept’s capabilities." Elsinore Product Manager John Lockhart said. "The most significant enhancements are a robust integration to Windows SharePoint Services and a built in screenshot utility. The Windows SharePoint Services intergation will allow our users to easily collaborate on documents such as specifications, requirements, and test plans related to issues and projects. The unique screenshot utility makes one of the most common and useful types of attachments to bug reports a one step process to generate. There are also several user interface enhancements such as the ability for users to add custom fields to the list views that will help make our users even more productive."
Visual Intercept’s integration to Windows SharePoint allows your organization to leverage the capabilities of Windows SharePoint for the management of documents attached to items in Visual Intercept. This allows you to keep requirements, specs, test plans, log files, screen captures, and other documents in a system that supports document collaboration while having them accessible from incidents, projects, and other items in Visual Intercept.
As a result your organization can use Visual Intercept’s document management capability for more than just static files and documents. A document such as a specification can be related to items in Visual Intercept and continually edited. Other benefits of the integration include the ease of maintenance provided by having the documents stored in a SQL Server database.
The screenshot utility allows a user, in a single step, to generate a screen capture of any active window and have it attached and uploaded with an issue report. Without this utility, the generation and attachment of a screen capture is a several step process that users typically avoid. Used in conjunction with Visual Intercept Web Relay this feature allows an organization to collect higher quality issue reports from end users, customers, and beta testers.
The ability to add customs fields to list views allows individual users to add any custom data as a user preference. This is one of many features that allow Visual Intercept users to configure their working environment to suit the role they play in the issue management process.
