Visual Intercept 3.7 Beta Program
Elsinore Technologies is preparing to release Visual Intercept 3.7. In addition to routine fixes, the key feature of 3.7 is directory services integration. The objective of the integration is to reduce administration to an absolute minimum while also providing the convenience and security provided by Windows authentication. The integration will provide:
- Windows authentication and silent logon
- Automatic creation of user accounts
- Automatic creation and maintenance of user’s contact information
- Project security enforcement based on domain group membership
Because the 3.7 beta will be available in mid to late May we would like to identify potential beta testers now. By testing the beta you will be able to comment on the directory services integration, help use ensure its compatibility with your environment, and test other fixes that may be of interest to you.
If you are interested in testing and commenting on 3.7 prior to release, please apply to the Visual Intercept 3.7 beta program. The beta program is available to all Visual Intercept customers with active support and maintenance. If you want to participate in the program or have any questions about the release, please contact Elsinore’s Product Manager John Lockhart at: .
Sign Up for the Sixth Intercept 4.0 Webinar
The Intercept 4.0 webinar series is designed to give our users a preview of major features of the new product. These webinars are also an opportunity for Elsinore to get some early feedback on the new product from experienced Intercept users.
In the sixth webinar in the series we will take an in depth look at the directory service integration. In addition to Windows authentication for clients, the integration will use directory services to:
- Create user accounts
- Create and maintain user contact information
- Enforce security based on domain group membership
During the webinar we will take a look at the features from the perspective of an administrator as well as a user of the system. We will also describe how the integration works with directory services from a technical perspective. The goal of the integration is to reduce administration to an absolute minimum, and this webinar is your chance to provide early feedback on how the integration will meet your needs and infrastructure requirements.
This webinar will be held in May. To sign up now send an e-mail with your request to John Lockhart at: or contact Elsinore Sales at: .

Tech Tip: Querying for Custom and Extended Custom Fields
Visual Intercept Web provides the ability to add custom and extended custom fields to all Visual Intercept document types: Accounts, Projects, Contacts, Hardware, and Incidents. Because these custom fields are contained in their own database tables, users must include subqueries when building the queries.
This month’s Tech Tip will cover writing subqueries to query for custom fields.
